Professor Kirsten Langkilde is the freshly appointed Director of the HGK FHNW, the Academy of Art and Design in Basel. From 1980 to 1986 she studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, with a focus on sculpture and installation. Since 1986 she has exhibited extensively in Europe and in the USA. In 1995 she became Professor for Aesthetic Practice at the University of the Arts UdK in Berlin, and from 2001 to 2009 she was Dean of the Faculty of Design and also Vice President of the UdK. Her work includes advisory roles for the Danish Ministry of Culture, the Swedish Ministry of Science, the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. R&D projects: “Innovation Habitat” in Berlin-Charlottenburg, “re:search–in and through the arts”, “… I see you–The Language of the Arts and Intercultural Dialogue”, “New Morphologies”. The results have been presented at conferences and through publications.
